Betsy's news from her new home ~ May 15, 2009 . . .
My goodness me! Just look at all of my new sisters and brothers. The Ginnette dollies are made by Vogue Company. My new mom loves all of them and gets them oodles of clothes from Kathy (eBay name kustomkopykat). Pinafores, ruffles galore . . . they must be the best dressed baby dolls in all of Michigan. My adopted mom makes hand-quilted tote bags and hand embroidery and jewelry, too. How can she be so creative with all of these darling babies to tend?
And Toodles! Toodles the Toddler lives here, too. Toodles, the ACTION BABY of the 1950s by American Character. ACTION BABY, Oh my! Someone is going to have to follow him all day long! And as for myself, I, who have always felt tiny, am suddenly a big sister.
My new father is an artist. So here we are, all lined up for a new family photo, in front of his painting. This is one amazing family!

About this doll . . .
|
|
EYES: Betsy's eyes are subtle brown, a delicate mix of transparent layers. She has many fine eyelashes (upper & lower) and feathered eyebrows using varied colors.
HER CLOTHING by Hankie Couture:
~ This heirloom-quality outfit was made from vintage linens.
~ The strawberries are beautifully embroidered with vinework details along the hem of the full skirt.
~ The sleeves are sheer and puffy! A single strawberry is centered at the bodice.
~ The hat is truly unique as the brim was cut from a circular row of strawberries that fit my hat pattern perfectly! The crown of the hat has larger strawberries.
~ Also included is a little Strawberry Tote Bag. There is a smallpiece of elastic sewn underneath the handle so that the doll can hold the bag.
~ The entire dress is lined, the seams are overlocked, and there are 2 snaps in the back.
Metro Line Riley was a limited edition doll in 2007-2008 by Kish & Company, usually priced at $180.00.
She has joints at her knees & hips, elbows & shoulders, and neck.
COLOR & PAINTING: Some computer screens may modify the color of the art. Some may make the image lighter or darker than it is. The doll has finer detail and more subtle coloring than a computer-jpeg-photo can show.
After removing all factory paint, I am using artist-grade alkyd-oil paints (in thin translucent glazes) with the addition of alkyd resin to make the paint surface become as flexible as the doll’s vinyl skin and to make it adhere well. I finely sand (Q-tip and finest pumice) the surface before painting it for better adhesion.

Nancy Lee Moran's POLICY TO SHOW RESPECT FOR HELEN KISH & other doll creators is as follows:
The dolls I use were factory painted. I would never repaint a doll that the artist (Helen Kish) had painted herself, such as some of those in the Kish Signature Line. I would not paint one in a limited edition of fewer than 300 (preferably 500 or more). I consult the beautiful book I own:
Helen Kish: The Artist and Her Dolls by Louise Fecher (hardcover published in 2006). I am NOT affiliated with any doll company, creator or manufacturer.
