My client Mary Ellen had been researching her Irish heritage online and found the Irish dolls on my website. She especially liked the face of my repainted doll Sheila, which uses the Cinderella face sculpt by Robert Tonner. When this face is on the 16-inch Antoinette vinyl doll body, the doll is named Cami by Tonner. This Antoinette doll uses the skin color named Bloom, which is very fair and "Irish." Mary Ellen requested pale blue eyes to honor the memory of her Norwegian father.

Jane Kelly has a new Christa (style) wig in size six inches, in mohair hand-dyed color named Pecan Blonde. Wendy Feidt of Wisconsin created the new wig. Wendy writes as follows on her website: Fine mohair from young angora goats remains lovely when it is not overly handled. Wigs have been her full time business since 1977.
You may enjoy visiting Wendy's website to see more of her wigs and handmade doll accessories.

Mary Ellen is fond of the lyrical verse of Dylan Thomas.

Now as I was young and easy under the apple boughs
About the lilting house and happy as the grass was green,
The night above the dingle starry,
Time let me hail and climb
Golden in the heyday of his eyes,
And honoured among wagons I was prince of the apple towns
And once below a time I lordly had the trees and leaves
Trail with daisies and barley
Down the rivers of the windfall light.
~ Welsh poet Dylan Marlais Thomas
from his poem "Fern Hill"

My client requested that the doll dresses reflect the colors of the flag of Ireland. According to Wikipedia: The green portion of the flag represents the majority Catholic residents, the orange side the minority Protestant, and the white middle part peace and harmony between them.
The Irish government has stated that the green represents the Irish nationalist tradition, the orange represents the Orange tradition (William of Orange), with white representing a truce between them.

My wee fairy Marigold seems to like these flag and dress colors, since she shares them!
Marigold Fairy, a 5 x 7 inch miniature oil painting and other artworks may be purchased from Lewis Art Gallery in Omaha (phone 800-306-7733).
As marigold flowers bob in the breeze, you may be surprised to see one blossom moving freely around the garden. For the wee fairy, her flower is both a sun bonnet and a disguise. Like some garden fairies, she is wingless. She rides into the sky on the back of her bird friend. ~ Nancy Lee Moran

More colors of the Irish flag! In my painting "Sunrise Glow"
I see, when I bend close, how each leaflet of a climbing rose is bordered with frost, the autumn counterpart of the dewdrops of summer dawns. The feathery leaves of yarrow are thick with silver rime and dry thistle heads rise like goblets plated with silver catching the sun.
